Spinal disc herniation also known as a slipped disc, is a condition that affects the spine. It occurs when there becomes a tear in the outer fibrous ring of the intervertebral disc. The slippage of the disc can lead to nerve irritation and impingement which can cause radicular symptoms causing numbness and or tingling in the extremities.
